Today on SportsBit we have a whole weekend packed with scintillating sports action to review. News from football and Basketball and every other tiny bit of sauce you may need.
In football we start with Spain. In a chaotic match played at the new San Mames stadium, Real Madrid dropped their first two points of the season no thanks to incredible misses from Benzema and Asensio. The match was played at a chaotic pace which suited Madrid but they were let down by the impersonators they paraded as strikers. Barcelona meanwhile continued their jolly ride from last season, grinding out a hard-fought come from behind victory against their bogey team in Real Sociedad. After going behind to an early goal, they equalized through a fortuitous Suarez goal and scored a winner through new hero in town, Ousman Dembele. Elsewhere the battle for fourth place seems like it will be interesting with Sevilla and Valencia experiencing difficult starts to the season with a loss to Getafe and a draw against Betis respectively. Villarreal however recorded a win against Leganes through a Carlos Bacca goal. In England the City rollercoaster seems to be gathering pace again as Fulham barely had a sniff of their goal in a 3-0 loss. In what seems like a three way race for the title(sorry Manchester United and Arsenal fans) there were also wins for Liverpool, against Almighty Spurs nonetheless and Chelsea who brushed aside Cardiff. There were wins for Arsenal and Man United though but they are currently way off the pace. In the performance of the week Bournemouth totally brushed aside Leicester City in a dominant first half display, going 3-0 up and eventually winning 4-2. West Ham also recorded their first win while Huddersfield lost at home to Wilfred Zaha. In Italy CR7 scored his first and then second goals for Juventus against Sassuolo as they ran out 2-1 victors. Inter dropped points again in what is looking like a hard season for them while AC Milan shared points thanks to a fine strike from Higuain What can we say in France except PSG won AGAIN. There were also wins for Marseille( Payet scoring an absolute beauty) and Monaco. It seems like it will be another trophy for PSG as Toulouse who were second before the start of the week lost. Business as usual in Germany as there were wins for Bayern, Borrusia and Leipzig. Anthony Ujah also scored for Mainz. In other sports, Nigeria’s D'Tigers are the first team to qualify for the FIBA world cup. Nigeria’s U17 also qualified for the U17 World Cup after edging out Ghana in penalties while Nigeria’s sole representatives in any continental competition, Enyimba, secured a hard-fought draw away to Raven Sport of Ivory Coast. That’s all she wrote in this inaugural edition of SportsBit Review Show. Join us again on Friday for the Preview Show as we look forward to all the major sporting events coning up this weekend.
